10 Outdoor Spring Cleaning Projects
Spring cleaning isn’t fun for many of us. But it should be done. As the holidays and winter come to an end and we begin looking forward to spring, something within us tells us to get our homes in order by cleaning, organizing and purging things we’ve piled up throughout the winter.
But who says spring cleaning is limited to the inside of your house?
The outside of your house could probably use some tidying up after a cold, dreary winter, too!
It’s Time For Home Exterior Cleaning
Here are home exterior cleaning projects that will really improve the appearance of your house in Miramar, and, even more important, will offer much-needed maintenance and care that will save a lot ofmoney over the years to come.
1. Gutter Cleaning
Spring is the best time to clean your gutters, because a lot of leaves and debris pile up in the fall and winter. Pollen is at its highest in spring, making a mess in your gutters if they aren’t cleaned.
Plus, bugs and critters are searching for places to build homes in spring, so having your gutters cleaned will help to prevent an infestation in your home.
Gutter cleaning consists of cleaning the inside and outside of your gutters, removing mold, mildew and rust stains and returning them to a like-new appearance.
2. Window Cleaning
Residential window cleaning is a must for spring cleaning. Ground floor windows won’t cause you much of a problem, but second and third floor windows will be tougher to reach.
Cleaning windows by hand is a tough chore, and it will require a lot of supplies, not to mention climbing up and down a ladder! A soft wash or professional cleaning of your home’s windows is the recommended solution to get the panes and the outer frame nice and clean.
3. Pressure Washing
You don’t want clean gutters and clean windows on a dirty house. Which means you will want to pressure wash your house too!
Pressure washing is fast, effective and affordable. You can pressure clean your house, outdoor furniture, concrete patios, porches and walkways with very little effort. It will remove dirt and mud so they will not permanently stain your house, and you can also prevent the spread of mold, mildew and allergens.
4. Driveway Cleaning
Clearing off your home’s driveway and giving it a good cleaning might seem strange because you will be driving on it, but actually, a clean, cared for driveway can increase the curb appeal of your house.
A professional pressure washing company will do wonders when it comes to driveway cleaning, whether it’s concrete, asphalt, brick or another material. Also think about adding a gravel border to your home’s driveway to really help it pop!
5. Patio Cleaning
Your home’s patio gets the most use in the summer, so it’s easy to overlook it in the winter since you aren’t doing any outdoor entertaining, leisure or grilling. Your patio could be in rough shape the first time you go onto it in spring.
Soap and water – and a little hard work – can sometimes be enough for patio cleaning, but if you see signs of mold or algae, you need to think about a more aggressive option, like professional power washing, to ensure that friends and family can safely enjoy your patio all summer.
6. Roof Cleaning
Algae and moss are typical roof issues in Miramar. While you are cleaning the outside of your house, it’s a great time to pressure clean your home’s roof as well, but you will need to use a different process than the one you use for most of your home’s exterior cleaning.
If you start to see streaks on your home’s roof, algae is probably the cause. Moss is pretty obvious, too. These particles can’t be scrubbed off shingles, nor can you power wash the roof of your house. Both of these methods will destroy the shingles on your home’s roof.
The best method for roof cleaning is to spray the shingles with a half-bleach, half-water mixture and then let it be. This mixture will eliminate all organisms on your home’s roof without lowering its lifespan.
7. Spruce up the Front
The front of your house is what most people passing by see, so make the best impression possible for visitors and for yourself! Coming home to a clean exterior will immediately improve your day, and it will probably encourage you to spend more time outside.
Clean your porch with soap and water or a good power wash. Clean cobwebs and mud off of the front door, and consider painting it for a really bright look! Clean forgotten areas such as the porch ceiling, light fixtures and ceiling fans, too.
8. Organize Garden Tools
You will be spending a lot more time outdoors, so spring is an excellent chance to organize whatever you will need for outdoor chores.
Gardening tools as well as pool care equipment need to all have an assigned place outside your house – somewhere that it is safe from harsh weather and out of sight so it isn’t a constant eyesore. Spending the time to organize in the spring allows you to appreciate the outside of your house much more throughout the time of year that you spend the most time outside.
9. Lawn Care & Landscaping
Your lawn, trees and garden bushes can make a huge impact on the overall look of your house.
Kill weeds around your flower beds and walkways, till up places where you’ll be planting later on and brush off walkways. You can also spray pre-emergent weed poison to make lawn maintenance easier on yourself throughout the next few months. Trim all bushes too.
10. Clean the Grill
After sitting unused for several months, your grill could need a good cleaning, too. Leftover grease and food from your grill are definitely unappetizing, but even worse they can also make you and your family sick.
Wipe it down to remove ash, then scrub the grates with a scrubber (so you do not leave behind particles that can sometimes get into food) and a dish soap or degreaser.
You can probably complete all of these projects after a few weekends but it will be a lot of hard work. Instead, give us a call! Miramar Pressure Washing offers professional home exterior cleaning services for patio cleaning, roof cleaning, driveway cleaning, pressure washing and more!
